The Process
The short story is that i wanted to learn some new software and didn't want to bother worrying about 'composing' while i fumbled about.
i went out and found some MIDI files for songs i knew well, imported them into a sequencer, cleaned out all the data i didn't want (volume, pan, etc) and then mapped the tracks to various VST instruments. Sounds were then created for each instrument without much regard for what they were supposed to be (like guitar on the guitar track, etc) and an overall late 60s Moog/space/futurist sound was adopted as an overall theme.
i mean these to be a tribute the craft of a great tune and also to the work of such 60s sound explorers (and sometimes cover artists) as Wendy Carlos, Jean Jacques Perry, Matin Denny, Enoch Light and many others.
Volume 2
A lot of tracks are floating around at this point (more than 30), but some that are more finished than others include Minnie the Moocher, River Deep Mountain High, You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet, Gold, Nothing Bad Ever Happens To Me and Volare.
Feel free to email me with any suggested tunes to try out for future releases.
